Garlic Beef Stew and Savory Cauliflower Mash

My husband and I are trying to find new, good, healthy recipes to try... We found a good one!!

I LOVE crock pot recipes because my most productive time of day is in the morning and I feel like super mom when I have dinner prepared and cooking by 10:00 am!!  This dinner is totally healthy and guilt free too!!

*** So, my vegetable steamer is broken so I tried to boil my cauliflower instead. I think that's why mine were a little runny...   I wouldn't do that again :)

Nail Polish Remover

I don't usually take pride in photographs of my feet and today is no different but I have a point to prove...

I saw on pinterest that the secret to white nails after taking dark colored nail polish off was making a paste with 2 1/4 tsp baking soda and 1 tsp peroxide. I recently had blue nail polish on and was ready for the challenge. As you can see, it doesn't work. Boo!!

Tutu Bed Skirt

I went to Joanne's the other day looking for fabric to make cute pillows for my daughter's room and came across a beautiful sign- Tulle 40% off!! YES!!! I stood there thinking of something I could make with it and then it hit me! I've been wanting to make a crib skirt for the little miss' bed and just the other day I saw an idea on Pinterest for a tulle bed skirt!

Next thing I knew, I was the proud owner of $5 worth of hot pink tulle and an hour later I had it transformed into this...

** I haven't added any embellishments yet but I do my have bedazzler  out and ready to rock and roll!!

Smoooooooth Legs

Here is the secret for smooth legs without stealing your husbands shaving cream!

Conditioner!

I would have never thought of this...good thing THEY did (along with a bunch of other great tips for everyday stuff). Actually, whenever I've run out of shaving cream I always go for a little shampoo in my loofah. If only I'd known that perfectly smooth legs were about an inch away all along...

After I tried this tip I seriously could not stop rubbing my legs against each other! TMI? Maybe.

So, next time you run out of shaving cream, or never want to buy shaving cream again (like me), just reach for the conditioner!! :)

I seriously LOVE Pinterest!!

Don't mind the big red eyes and the no pants thing.... Just another day in paradise!! :)

To get the recipe click HERE

**When I made them I didn't think they looked done when the time was up but I took them out anyway- Once they were cooled they were perfect!!
** I also 1/2'd the recipe since we're just a family of three and it made about 2 dozen still so it's a pretty big recipe.

Glow In The Dark Bubbles

Today I tried to make glow in the dark bubbles, from this Pin, by cutting a glow stick and pouring the "glow" into bubbles. I was really excited as the bottle began to glow. I put 4 glow sticks into the bubbles just to be sure I had enough. My husband, daughter and I went outside in anticipation aaaaaaannndddd..... Nothing.

The bubbles do not glow in the dark. The bubbles in the container glow, as you can see but the bubbles don't. I was disappointed because I thought this was going to be awesome!! Boo.

Fixing Frizzy Hair

I saw this on Pinterest for Barbies but I've been wanting to fix the hair on my beloved American Girl doll, Molly's hair.

Call me lame but I'm really excited that it worked!!!

Here she is having her spa day...
First I brushed her hair as best as I could. Then I filled a bowl with hot water and let her hair soak for a minute or so. Then brushed her hair again.

And Wa-Lah!!

A fresh new do!!
Now I can let my little girl play with her and I won't just stare at how ugly and crazy her hair is!!

Baking on a Cooling Rack

I saw this on Pinterest a while ago but didn't have a need until tonight.

Place a cooling rack on top of a cookie sheet and bake...

This was awesome for my homemade egg roles tonight because when ever I make these the bottom of them are always a little soggy-ish because of the olive oil on them. Using the cooling rack made them cook evenly all the way around and the extra oil dropped just dropped right through onto my cookie sheet covered in tin foil aaaannnddd easy clean up!!

This really is awesome!

My husband is a hard critic when it comes to bread and these definitely passed the test!! Soooo yummy and they really do  taste like Olive Garden's bread sticks!!

You can find the recipe for these AMAZING bread sticks here

Learning Colors

I went to Lowes last night and put these little things together this morning.

My 2 year old and I have a long flight ahead of us this afternoon and I'm hoping this entertains her for a good chunk of it??!!  I LOVE projects that help learning in any way and am really excited about these. I'm actually laminating the colored papers right now because I'm so excited about these that I want them to last.

Sooooo easy and inexpensive!
The colored papers are obviously free and I got the clips for $1.97 at Walmart!!
 LOVE IT!

Below is the picture I was going off and here is the Pinned link that inspired it! I think that the bigger squares on the clips would make this a little easier for smaller kids because they are easier to see and compare against the other paper but I did mine smaller to fit the clip so the paper wouldn't bend while being stored.

Garlic Cheese Bread

Garlic, cheesy goodness!!

This was way better than regular garlic bread because, CHEESE!
Way easy and quick to make and even delicious left over!!

*I totally forgot the fresh parsley in mine and was so sad when I realized - as I was pulling it out of the oven.
Also, I used a french bread instead of a baguette and it was delish :)

Ivory Soap Experiment

I've been quite excited to try this one out but also a little nervous because I didn't want a big mess in my microwave. We are visiting my parents at the moment so I thought, "Hey, I'll try it out in theirs!" :)

I'm not that evil, well, kind of I guess. I did try it out in my parents microwave but only because my little one and her cousins were all around to see. Long story short- It worked and it rocks!!

Here is my dirty faced kiddo modelling the cooked soap.

We read that you can use cookie cutters to make different designs with the soap after you cook/play with it so it's not just wasted. We tested it out and couldn't get it to look really pretty but good enough that we'll use it and the kids obviously loved it!

I read that this MUST be the Ivory soap. Any other soap WILL explode in your microwave. I haven't tested that out but I'm taking their word for it :)

Marshmellow Popcorn

Best part about this popcorn??!! It's made in the microwave and takes about 5 minutes to make!!

Seriously, you could be sitting on your couch craving something sweet and literally 10 minutes later be sitting in the same exact spot with a huge bowl of goodness on your lap!!

3 bags popcorn (pop and take out extra kernels) 2 sticks of butter 16 oz bag of marshmallows 1 cup brown sugar Microwave butter, marshmallows, and brown sugar for 2 1/2 min. Take out and stir. Microwave again for 1 min. Repeat until thin sauce. When done pour over popcorn and mix. YUM!

(I don't have the original link for this one, the recipe was just written on Pinterest...here the Pinner I got it from! Thank you!)

**** We used a popcorn popper instead of microwave popcorn- I'm sure any popcorn would work great!

-Once I had everything mixed together I added MORE marshmellows in the popcorn!! I was happy about it. Also, in the future I think peanuts would be a good mix-in- add a little salt with the sweet.

Here is the original picture from Pinterest :)

Recycled Sprinkler

So, I went to the store today to buy a 2 liter
(I love when I have an excuse to get me some Diet Coke with Lime!!)
to make a homemade recycled sprinkler.... I poked holes in the bottle, had my kiddo in her swimming suit ready to party and went outside thinking my soda bottle would just screw right on to my hose. It doesn't... sooooo, I will be trying this one again in the future and will document my hopeful success but in the mean time I wanted to warn everyone....
You should probably make sure you have the proper hose end replacement before downing a whole 2 liter with your 2 year old watching in anticipation...

(Note: I did share my 2 liters of Diet Coke Lime)

This was my intentions today....
I WILL do this! :)

Bee Sting Remedies

I'm not very happy that I got to test this one out today!!!

I was out filling up a kiddie pool for my 2 year old and her cousins when I looked down to find a wasp clinging to my hand. I obviously handled this with grace.... by freaking out, squealing and running to the kiddie pool to throw my hand in.

Ever since that happened this morning my little girl, who isn't afraid of anything, has squealed every time she sees a fly. Great.

Anyway, two of my sister's were there with me and we instantly looked up our bee sting remedies via Pinterest, seriously- Pinterest is the best thing ever!!

This is what we found:
(Click HERE for the original link)

First make sure the stinger is removed (look for a black spot in the bite area), do this immediately as it can reduce the amount of venom released into the body.
At one time it was thought that you had to scrape it out (with something like a blunt knife or plastic edge) but you can effectively use tweezers to pull it out.
Wash the stung area with soap and water then try a remedy or treatment below for pain relief. Technically it’s a sting rather than a “bite”, but I used bite below to describe the injured area.
  1. Make a paste of meat tenderizer and water or baking soda and water–apply to bite.
  2. Sprinkle generously with baking soda then drizzle some drops of vinegar over the baking soda to make it fizz. Leave on skin until pain is gone.
  3. Cover with a dot of mustard.
  4. Make a thick paste of meat tenderizer and vinegar, apply to area.
  5. Cover with honey and reapply as needed for pain.
  6. Dab with a generous amount of toothpaste and leave on the wound.
  7. Apply ice or an ice pack.
  8. Soak in Epsom salt and water or make paste and apply.
  9. Apply Aloe Vera.
  10. Chew a plantain leaf then apply the macerated leaf onto the bite.
  11. Crush fresh parsley and apply to wound.
  12. Crush fresh basil leaves and apply.
  13. Drizzle apple cider vinegar over the wound.
  14. Apply a slice of fresh papaya.
  15. Dab on a bit of deodorant.
Symptoms:
A normal reaction to a bee sting is to experience pain and itchiness, redness and swelling. Pain will last for a few hours then should disappear.
If the following occurs, seek medical advice:
  • If it stung inside your nose or mouth (the swelling will affect breathing).
  • If you were stung several times by many bees.
  • If you have difficulty breathing or your breathing seems to have been affected.
  • Your tongue begins to swell.
  • You experience dizziness.
  • You experience blurry vision.
  • You feel nauseous.
  • Your speech is slurred or you find it difficult to talk.
  • Hives or a rash appears (especially in an area away from the bite).
  • The stung area swells alarmingly large.

**** I immediately placed a putty of water and baking soda on the sting. I didn't feel like it was helping. Next, I tried toothpaste. I didn't feel that was easing any pain either. 3rd times a charm- mustard! I placed a dab of mustard on there and within a couple minutes we were in business!!  I may have just needed patience with the first two attempts but those buggers hurt and I wasn't in a very patient mood!!

All I know, is mustard did the trick and next time someone around me gets stung I'm gonna have a little more sympathy because they hurt worse than I thought and then I'll whip out the condiments!!

S'mores Graham Krispie Treat

I made these this afternoon for the perfect addition to my "The Men Tell All" Bachelorette party tonight!!
(For those of you watching this season with Emily- We are a TEAM JEF fan club only!!)

Anyway, chocolate, marshmellows, Golden Grahams... Need I say more??!!

Mine looks a little more messy because as I was making them I decided to add more chocolate and I added more marshmellows on top. It may not look as pretty but I'm pretty excited to devour it!!

Below is the picture off Pinterest.  They look so pretty.

(Click HERE to go straight to the original link for the recipe)

S'mores Graham Krispie Treats

Yield: 12 Bars
Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cook Time: 10 Minutes
Total Time: 25 Minutes
A twist on a campfire classic treat

Ingredients:

1 bag (10 oz) Mini Marshmallows
1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate chips + 1 for topping
1 box (12 0z) Golden Grahams Cereal
6 Tbsp Butter
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
Non-Stick Cooking Spray

Directions:

In a 9x9 inch baking pan, spray with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
In a large non-stick pot over medium heat, melt butter. Add in marshmallows and stir together with butter until marshmallows have melted and become creamy. Stir in vanilla extract.
Fold in grahams cereal until all marshmallows and grahams are evenly mixed together. Mix in 1 cup of chocolate chips. Spread treats into sprayed baking pan. Press into pan and sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate chips on top of the treats, lightly press into top of treats to make sure they stick. Place into fridge for 10 minutes to cool.
Slice into bars and serve. Devour.

*TIPS*

-  I think I stirred to long once I put the chocolate in because mine all melted and got everywhere... not necessarily a bad thing, just doesn't look as pretty.

-I accidentally greased an 11x13 pan and poured mine in that before I realized it asked for a 9x9 but I'm glad I made that mistake because they were a little thinner bar and will go farther when serving. In a 9x9 the bars would be pretty thick.

-Like I mentioned before, I added extra chocolate and marshmellow- I'm happy about it :)

Paint In A Bag

 This doesn't work.... LAME!!

I tried this tonight with my 2 year old and to even get anything to show up at all I had to put quite a bit of pressure to move paint around but then it would just spread back out almost immediately.

I'm not quite sure how they got it to work with a soft little Q-tip?!!!

Don't waste your paint.

Homemade Bokeh

I've been wanting to try this for a while and finally got to it today....I saw it first here!

I took a few pictures- some zoomed in and some zoomed out... I thought is was kind of fun to play around with...

This one below was zoomed in all the way- I like the blackened edges.

Here is my homemade bokeh- I tried a star one and made it fit right on the camera so I could slip it on and off..

Here is the picture I was going off of... I was pretty proud of mine :)

I'm actually really excited about this! I want to make a few different shapes and play around with it more. If you're into photography stuff and like to try new things without spending $$$ for tools, I think this is worth a try :)

Coloring Pages- Learning letters

I feel like every time I see a "free" download Pin or something like that I click on it and I have to sign up for something or there is some kind of catch. LAME!!

Well, this one is totally free and so cute!! They have every letter in the alphabet shaped into something that begins with that letter. I printed the whole alphabet today for my kiddo and I'm actually REALLY excited about it :)  Thank you Pinterest!!

Braided Cinnamon Wreath

This was awesome!! I have already printed it and added it to my cookbook!!

It was a little trickier than I thought it was going to be to braid it... that's probably just a 'me' issue but I thought it was a fun treat to serve for my girl's night tonight. It really was beautiful :)

**I also added glaze on top of mine. I just poured some powdered sugar in a bowl and stirred in a little bit of water until I got the consistency I wanted. Just brush the glaze all over the top right when it comes out of the oven.

*TIP*
This did NOT raise in an hour as advertised!! I made this in a time crunch and I had planned to have it ready to roll out in an hour like the recipe said and it wasn't close to ready.

I tried another Pinterest tip to get it to raise faster- placing the bowl on a heating pad. I've actually tried that in the past and it worked great but I'm convinced that since I was stressing out about having this done in time today ( I basically sat and hovered over the bowl waiting for it to raise) it didn't work well... Anyway- below is my bowl on the heating pad :)   I think in the future once I braid it I will let it raise more before I put it in the oven...

Squishiest Playdough Ever

Ok. for some reason I was expecting something amazing with this one, but it's just exactly what it says... Squishy Playdough.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great recipe if you're the "homemade type" and not the "I'll just pick it up at the store" type.  Soooo, if your like me and you like the homemade stuff - you should probably plan a playdough play date with your little ones sometime soon!!

I got this Pin from here!

**Don't get discouraged while stirring on the stove. It took longer than I thought it would have and I was worried mine wasn't going to turn out but it was perfect :)
